ARKWRIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS The Arkwright Scholarships Trust has conducted its annual award of prestigious Scholarships, which are highly regarded by university admission tutors and industry recruiters, and are one of the most prestigious accolades that a talented sixth form student can receive. Two Boys, Tanveer Bhandari (below left) and Hemanth Veluru (below right), were awarded scholarships.

Physics Experience. The boys had a thoroughly enjoyable day, starting off with a morning touring the city and Magdalene College, as well as a talk on Cambridge University and applying to top universities. In the afternoon they walked to the world- famous Cavendish Laboratory where they took part in a range of fun and challenging practical activities from crane building to investigating a ‘weight problem’.

Arkwright Engineering Scholarships act as a beacon to the most talented STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students in UK schools. Scholars are selected for their potential as future engineering leaders by assessing their academic, practical and leadership skills in STEM. These are gauged through a rigorous selection process comprising: an assessed application form including a teacher’s reference; a two-hour, problem- solving aptitude exam; and a university- based interview. The Scholarships support students through their sixth form studies and encourage them into top universities. CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY VISIT Very early on Friday 10th November, following a rigorous selection process, 10 year 9 boys travelled with Mr Costello and Mr Harmer to Cambridge University to take part in the Cambridge Colleges’

The boys enjoyed the day and it encouraged them to think about Physics and Engineering as future career paths at top universities.
